Quilts for Men

I have made this quilt for my eldest son.  The fabric range is called Savile Row and is a great design for men.  I have backed the quilt in the same black paisley as the 2.5" borders around each block.  His bed is black cast iron so the quilt looks great and is dirt proof (well if I can't see it then it's not there!!) My husband also likes this quilt so definately a thumbs up from the men.  Regards Rob

Gingham Rose Redwork Quilt

                                                                                                                                                                                    I'm entering the Bloggers Quilt Festival this year with one of my favourite quilts I made in 2006.  It began with my obsession with redwork stitching while waiting for my kids to finish dancing, netball, footy etc.  I kept to a theme of things I loved ie: home, family, friends, chooks, birdhouses, gardens and all things country.  The piecing of the quilt is my design.  I worked in rows and just added blocks of fabric to make it fit (lots of fudging).  Once the quilt was pieced and quilted in the ditch I hand quilted in my redwork thread at dancing, netball, football blah blah I'm sure you get the idea of the time involved in waiting on four kids.  Anyway, final result is still one of my favourite quilts that is displayed on a rustic ladder next to my fire place.

          Fabrics used are from the Gingham Rose range by 3 Sisters.

 This section shows the name and birthdate of my four children.

One of my favourite times of the year on the farm is calf weaning.  I love spending time with them and getting to know all their personalities. After a few days most of them will eat out of your hands or just come up to you to see what you are doing.  We walk them through the yards/race a few times each day to teach them to be calm in the yards.  My hubby loves the genetics of cattle breeding and producing generations of quiet animals.  This bunch is a pleasure to work with.  Not one of them is flighty so will all be staying with us for a few years to come.  Also, anyone feeling sorry for the mums - they only moo for their calves for a couple of days.  They are already pregnant with their next calf due later in the year and look a little drained when we take the calves off them.  Within a week they are all looking fatter, their coats are brighter and move onto looking after their new bubs. Quick Quilts

                                                                   John Deere Quilt

No piecing quilts are a quick and easy way to make a quilt.  I am currently making this John Deere quilt suitable for a little boy.  The top is 2 yards of this patchwork print and 2.5 yards is needed for the backing (cut in half and sewn along selvedge).  These quilts are so easy to quilt as there are no seams or lumpy joins.  This size will fit the top of a single bed so are great for kids.

New Quilt in Store

Unfortunately, my store format only allows two photos per item so I am going to put extra photos of my quilts on my blog for those interested is seeing more close ups of each quilt.

This one is a lovely rag quilt embellished with pretty daisy & rose lace and lots of crochet flowers/small doilies.  Hope you like it! Regards Rob

Mothers Day Orders
