Stitchery Backing Fabrics

If you are like me, you are forever looking for block or stitchery background fabrics that are not too plain. I have found two fabric ranges that are perfect for my style of quilting and stitcheries.

If you are looking for country or primitive background fabrics 'Little Gatherings' by Primitive Gatherings for Moda are perfect. Fat Quarter shop has these bundled into colour groups, Fawn and Walnut (shown above) This also comes in Raven which are mainly black.

Whitewash by Crabapple Hill is just perfect for your prettier stitcheries or quilts. I have purchased Fat Quarter bundles of all these so hopefully won't be looking for background fabrics any time soon. Regards Rob

New Fabric

Summer House from Lily Ashbury is just delish!!! I purchased a fat quarter bundle thinking it would be great for kids clothes but when it arrived I wanted to use it for everything..........quilts, kids stuff, bags, blah blah blah!!!

It is just lovely, bright, colourful and good quality Moda fabric. So if you love brights, floral, happy fabrics, I highly recommend this range.

Flannel Quilt

This time of year I love flannel quilts. They're great to snuggle in on the lounge in front of a fire. My favourite flannel quilts (and the easiest to make) are rag quilts, the more you wash them the better they get. This week I made the one above out of the Harvest Town range by Red Rooster Fabrics. This range has a panel with four different scenes (see photo). I bought 4 panels, cut them up, used matching panel for front and back. Quilted each one separately, then used the border fabric for edges using the same quilting technique. I also made a matching pillow, but I think I need to make more as my children do not understand the first in best dressed rule!!!!! So much for a peaceful night on the lounge!!!!! Rob xo
