Merry Christmas!

Cowboy Boot Christmas Quilt Close up

Ladder display as part of Xmas decorations

Our farm after bushfires

Merry Christmas to all my wonderful customers and I look forward to another creative year with you in 2013.  Next year the studio will only open on the first Saturday of each month and by appointment/party booking.  This week has been busy with bushfires at our Rathdowney farm and trying to finish my Xmas orders and presents!  The heat over the last weeks has warped my quilting table and the tracks have moved so my quilting machine decided it didn't want to co-operate with my last minute quilting (grrrrrrr)!  I dream of a cold Christmas (not white, just cold!!)  So I blasted the air conditioner on it (and me) and finished the above Cowboy Boot Xmas Quilt and a customer cot quilt, but still have a few pressies to finish.  Xmas/New year is always hectic in our household.  With last minute orders to fill, Xmas shopping, Calf marking,  Hubby's birthday and usually a New Years Eve party, I am all Bah Humbug.  My Favourite day is 2nd January when it is all over (including the NY hangover) and I look forward to a New (and less hectic) Year!!  Best wishes Rob :)

New Quilts

Shari's Raggy Quilt

Backing from same fabric

Shari (my wonderful cardmaker) asked me to make her a large black and tan raggy quilt.  The finished size is 225cm square.  It is the largest raggy quilt I have ever made but will be the last time I make such a large one.  Joining the last of the quilt was murder on my arthritic back.  But I am very happy with the finished result:)

Ruby Toile Quilt

Backing & Binding fabrics

Wellington Toiles by Nancy Gere

Headed to Aratula (Qld) yesterday to drop off some new goodies to the lovely Homespun store on the Cunningham Hwy.  I love the drive from Beaudesert to Boonah (detour to Aratula) then onto Rathdowney (so do a gazillion motorbike riders) the countryside is just beautiful.  Even after no or little rain the rolling hills and mountains are lovely.  So if you go for a country drive head to Aratula to check out Homespun, little cafe next door makes yummy toasted sandwiches (I'm addicted to toasted sandwiches) Antique Store and fruit shop up the road.  Also fruit and veges for sale at farm gates so good to support the local Farmers!!! Take an esky on your drive for your fruit and veges and the wines you buy from the local wineries.  Stop at Rathdowney Pub for proper burgers or steak sandwich (not like maccas rubbish) it is a great country pub usually a few characters at the bar!  Sounding like the local Tourist Info Officer I know, but I love the area and love living in it!  OK back to my homemade wares - photos above of new goodies for sale at Homespun.  They are having a 1st Birthday Market Day on 1st December with handmade stalls, Sausage sizzle etc so if you are out that way check it out!! regards Rob

New Items this Week

Another busy Saturday at the studio.  This week I have made a quilt, bag and cushion cover.  The quilt is again from Holly Holderman's Penelope range but I have made this one in the blue Toujour Eiffel fabric.  The blue is a lovely cornflower blue and looks best with white furnishings.

This reversible shopping Tote is red and white zig zag on the reverse side.

French General cotton/linen cushion cover fits size 16 insert.

New Items in Store

Had a busy morning on Sat at the studio (even after late night with the girls).  I made three bags from the lovely Communique range by Wilmington fabrics.  The fabrics are art themselves so the bags would look lovely in a studio/library/office for storage. I also made a lovely raggy runner from the Curtin Call panel also from Wilmington fabrics.  Will post photos of it after I have washed it.
